The weather may have dampened the red carpet, but not the spirits of local arts supporters who stepped out in fine form to celebrate the Oakville Arts Council’s inaugural awards ceremony, Stars Among Us.

 

The awards, one in each category of Literary Arts, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and New Media, are a part of the Art Council’s work supporting emerging and established artists in the community.

 

Hosted by local actor, Danny Deakin, the ceremony included performances by award-winning musician, Susan Aglukark, Jordan John and the Blues Angels, the Oakville Children’s Choir, Canadian Music Competition award-winner, Annie Zhou and a drama performance by local actors Dina Dametto, Virginia McEwan and Pamela Keyes.

 

The presentation of the $500 award in each category was prefaced by films of each of the three top nominees and the awards were presented by the supporting sponsor in each category: Epson Canada, TD Canada Trust, Win Henstock Gallery and the Oakville Beaver.  Click here for the Award Recipients
