The Oakville Arts Council provides services designed to encourage professional development and foster creative collaboration. ArtConnections keeps our members informed and connected to creative opportunities - calls for entry, employment, funding, networking, workshops, volunteers, arts space and more.

Calls/Auditions

  • Partners of the Jordan Art Gallery are actively looking for artists and makers working in 3D media to submit an application for consideration. We are an established venue (13years) located in the high tourist area of quaint and historic Jordan Village, in Niagara, Ontario. The selected partner will have floor space footage and contribute to the gallery by working 2-3 days per month as well as contribute to the business.   • 8th annual Kidapalooza. This is an opportunity for children’s agencies, sports & recreation programs and childcare facilities to come together to share information on their programs and also provide activities at their tables and in some cases do demonstrations. Application form with payment, through our website at www.opnc.ca or by cheque.  The cost if you register early is $170 per table for for-profit organizations, and $50 for non-profit organizations.

  • The Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts are Canada's foremost distinctions for excellence in visual and media arts. Help us to honour remarkable Canadians in these fields, and nominate someone who you feel is deserving of one of these prestigious awards. Deadline: June 1, 2014. Be sure to visit the Canada Council for the Arts website and view the nomination guidelines here.

  •  The Canada Council for the Arts Walter Carsen Prize for Excellence in the Performing Arts 2014 (in Dance) recognizes annually the highest level of artistic excellence and distinguished career achievement by a Canadian professional artist in dance, theatre or music. A prize of $40,000 will be awarded in 2014 in the field of dance. Please nominate someone you feel is deserving of this award. The deadline in April 30, 2014.   • Call for singers! Darren Evorglens is looking for singers to perform at monthly events in Oakville and the surrounding areas. If you like to sing songs from the '50s '60s and '70s and have some friends and family that would like to come out and support you, then join Darren and others onstage at one of his local variety shows. If you have the talent, all you have to do is supply Darren with your backing tracks. He will secure the gigs and take care of the promotion.   • Art Battle Canada returns to Oakville! Join us for three rounds of live competitive painting on Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. Twelve professional and emerging painters will compete to become the next Art Battle champion. The winner will earn a cash prize and a spot in the Oakville Championship in June 2014. The winner of the finals will further compete in the 2014 National Championship. Workshops/Seminars

  • Financial Basics Workshop! On Wednesday, April 23, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., you can attend the Financial Basics Workshop at the Milton Public Library. The cost is $25, and hopes to increase the attendees understanding of financial statements, cash flow, income and balance sheets and the tools to analyze them. To register, call 905-825-6000.

  • Ontario Culture Days Is Hiring! Are you looking for a summer intern within the GTA area? Because OCD is currently accepting applications. The position is funded through Young Canada Works, so it is requisite the candidate be a recent graduate. In brief, the main objective of placement is to provide communications, outreach and planning support to the Ontario Culture Days team for the 5th year of Culture Days. The position will be based out of Toronto, with some travel throughout the GTA. The work period is from May 5 to August 29, 2014. Interested candidates should send a resume and cover letter to Aubrey Reeves, Ontario Culture Days Manager, at aubreyreeves@culturedays.ca. The deadline is April 17.   • Does your non-profit or charitable organization require advertising, marketing & public relations assistance? If so, Mohawk College has an innovative program that can help: The Agency. The Agency is a new initiative within the McKeil School of Business at Mohawk College. It has been created as a dynamic "Living Learning" environment, enabling students from a variety of marketing communications programs the opportunity to conceive and execute effective marketing communications solutions for non-profit groups. We are now accepting submissions from area not-for-profits. The deadline for submissions is Friday, May 2, 2014.
