Keith Penfold, member of the Oakville Arts Council Board of Directors and is also the local Area Representative of the Opimian Wine Society, Canada’s largest private wine importing club, has generously donated 3 lots of wine.
Lot # 2905 - 2 bottles of Chateau Boyd Cantenac, 3eme Cru Classe, AC Margaux, valued at $60 each. Described as “superb” by wine maker Ivanhoe Johnston, only 4,500 cases of this wine were produced in 2003. It has a deep, rich colour and with a nose of pungent spice with intense plummy fruit, the palate is particulary full with exceptionally ripe tannins and a finely balanced freshness that is rich and powerfully fruity. It was rated 90 by Robert Parker. It is best consumed between the years 2010-2022.
Lot # 3864 -3 bottles of Domaine des Cigalons, AOC Chateauneuf-du-Pape, valued at $35 each. This eco-friendly wine was produced in 2005, with an evolution of 10+ years. The aroma is one of chocolate, liquorice, currant and provencal herbs, the palate is full of flavours of smoke, kirsch and cherry.
Lot # 5026- 1 bottle each of 1998, 2001 and 2002 vintages of Chateau Dauzan La Vergne, AC Cotes De Bergerac, valued at $30 each. These medal winning wines contain quality and elegance, made from fruit carried on fruiting canes. Highly recognized, the wine has come from a state of the art winery built in the bowl shaped valley of vines at the eastern end of the Saint-Emiilion escarpment. The grape variety is Merlot.

Adventures in Drama Land - Value: $495
West End Studio Theatre has generously donated a Full Day Summer Camp experience starting July 19 until July 30 for one student aged seven to 16 years. Each day the students explore various techniques used in theatre presentations. Participants will take part in exercises designed to awaken and expand creative expression through improvisational theatre, dance (InMotion Dance West), voice and mime. Students will also be introduced to film acting on camera. The program will be highlighted by workshops with guest artists each session. Each session students will attend a matinee at the Stratford Festival. Parents' night is Thursday evening of the second week. The students will perform a play - created by them - applying what they have learned. No experience is necessary - just a sense of adventure.
