2015 Arts Awards Suggestions Now Being Accepted!

The Oakville Arts Council is looking for suggestions from the community on who should be honoured with awards in the following categories at their upcoming AGM/Arts Awards taking place October 15, 2015.

Please send your suggestion with a brief outline on why you think this person or group are deserving of an award, along with any helpful supporting material to Giulia Simonato by Friday September 11, 2015.

The Award Categories

Arts Collaboration Award

The Arts Collaboration Award will honour two Oakville-based community groups or individuals whose collaboration has broken down silos and moved the arts into the greater community in an innovative way. This award will celebrate groups or individuals who have moved the arts forward into a new sector or who have used the arts to enrich the lives of Oakville residents in a some way. At least one of the parties in the collaboration must be arts related; however the parties do not need to be Oakville Arts Council members.

Community Impact in the Arts Awards

The Community Impact in the Arts Award will honour an Oakville-based artist or arts and culture group who have used the arts to create change in the Oakville community. This award will celebrate an event, program, project or simple action that transformed the lives of Oakville residents through the arts. The nominee must be an artist or art group; however they do not need to be Oakville Arts Council members.

Arts Entrepreneur Awards

The Arts Entrepreneur Award will honour a local business that utilizes the arts in an innovative and unique way to build their business and/or further arts or the work of local artists in the Oakville community. This award will honour a sustainable business or entrepreneur who has demonstrated success in their practice over the last five years. The nominee must be an art business or entrepreneur; however they do not need to be Oakville Arts Council members.
