The Oakville Arts Council provides services designed to encourage professional development and foster creative collaboration. ArtConnections keeps our members informed and connected to creative opportunities - calls for entry, employment, funding, networking, workshops, volunteers, arts space and more.  

If you have an opportunity for artists and would like to have it published, please email Bernadette Ward at bward@oakville.ca. Your email should contain the name of your organization or the organization providing the opportunity, appropriate dates/location/fees and contact information.

   

Calls/Auditions

  • Partners of the Jordan Art Gallery are actively looking for artists and makers working in 3D media to submit an application for consideration. We are an established venue (13years) located in the high tourist area of quaint and historic Jordan Village, in Niagara, Ontario. The selected partner will have floor space footage and contribute to the gallery by working 2-3 days per month as well as contribute to the business.   • Call for singers! Darren Evorglens is looking for singers to perform at monthly events in Oakville and the surrounding areas. If you like to sing songs from the '50s '60s and '70s and have some friends and family that would like to come out and support you, then join Darren and others onstage at one of his local variety shows. If you have the talent, all you have to do is supply Darren with your backing tracks. He will secure the gigs and take care of the promotion.   • Call for Artists! The Oakville Players community theatre group is presenting Colours in the Storm, the Tom Thomson musical November 6-15, 2014. Set in Algonquin Park it explores the life and mysterious death of Tom Thomson. One of the play’s themes is about Tom’s struggle to recognize his own talent and his obsession with painting. The Oakville Players are looking for visual artists to help them tell this story by producing art in any medium based around the theme "Colours in the Storm" on “Boards”, similar to what Tom used for his sketches.   • Call for Singers Villanella wants excellent singers to perform Classical Music, including Gregorian Chants and live composers' music. In particular, they are looking for experienced singers who can read music and sight-sing, and who have good tone and range.   • Call for Singers Musikay wants excellent singers to perform Renaissance-style music In particular, they are looking for experienced singers who have the discipline to prepare fully ahead of rehearsals and who have good tone and range.   • Call for Artists The Port Credit Outdoor Art Show is being held at Port Credit Memorial Park, from July 18-20. They are looking for vendors to create and sell art of a diverse array of mediums including mosaics, jewellery, woodworking, photography and more. For more information, email Beatrice@portcredit.com.

  • Art-On-Location at Whole Foods Market! $15 off for members.
    Summer Day Camps for ages 5-9 yrs. and 10-teens. Outdoors on the patio. Children will work with a different medium each day of camp, and will be trained in the creative eye. There will be an art show on the last day of camp. A whole Whole Foods lunch option will be available.
