For many nonprofits, Board recruitment too often means finding warm bodies and twisting arms rather than selectively recruiting people who reflect the community, are passionate about the mission of an organization, and bring the skills and strategic perspective demanded of today’s Boards of Directors. This learning session will explore why finding the right directors is crucial to an organization's success and will provide strategies and tools for assisting nonprofits to recruit effective Board members.

Participants will come away from this workshop with information and strategies they can put to use immediately, including:

    • Identifying the characteristics of the ideal director for your organization.
    • Identifying and promoting what your organization can offer to candidates.

    • Who should be responsible for recruiting.
    • Where to find good candidates.

    • How to select the right people.
