Digital Communications & Content Creator

Reporting to the Executive Director, this position contributes to the development, implementation and tracking of communications and marketing initiatives designed to drive community engagement, artistic development and sustainability for the Oakville Arts Council and its membership. 

The successful incumbent will focus their efforts assisting local arts organizations and artists with the development of digital marketing plans, the creation of digital content and basic social media training, where required. You will also assist the OAC with communications and marketing initiatives.

Primary Duties:

  • Research on sector-related topics
  • Work with various organizations to create various content (videos, articles, infographics) with relevant tone and style, adhering to respective style guides
  • Target content to specific audiences and focus on trending topics
  • Incorporate blog and social media posts in both websites and social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram
  • Conduct keyword research and employ SEO best practices to optimize content
  • Analyze web traffic to measure the success of content and strategies


  • Demonstrated ability to write for a variety of markets and across a variety of formats/styles and marketing.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing analytics and SEO
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various social media platforms and the development of digital marketing strategies
  • Ability to produce and edit video
  • Possess excellent computer skills with proficiencies in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro) and Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook/Gmail).
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, handle multiple tasks, and work in an environment where timelines/deadlines are normal and last-minute changes a given.
  • Organizational and time management skills an asset
  • Understanding of the arts sector an asset

Organization Description

Established in 1978, the OAC is a not-for-profit, charitable community arts council with a mission to champion and grow  Oakville's creative community through communications, resources, opportunities for learning and connecting, and participation in cultural programming.

Job Details

This is a 1-year contract position, 24 hours per week, including some evening and weekend hours as required.
