Preserving Your Legacy: Archives for Artists and Arts Groups

  • 02 Apr 2020
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Online

This free workshop will teach artists and arts organizations how to manage their records - paper and digital - and how to plan for long-term records management, preservation, and access.

We'll work through best practices and common problems based on attendees' individual situations. Your records might be neatly filed in a filing cabinet, stashed in offsite storage, sitting in the founder's basement, going mouldy in the attic, or piled all over your home office.

We'll cover:

  • common types of arts-related records and why they should be kept (and for how long)
  • developing an organizational system
  • how to document your collection
  • maintenance and upkeep
  • developing an archives
  • access, privacy, and copyright
  • digitization for active use and for posterity

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation for this project.

This webinar can be attended remotely. Registrants will be sent instructions.
